LightScribe technology is in built, meaning if evd use specific LightScribe discs - 5 free ones from Philips are included - you can design and print images onto the disc, using the laser to 'burn' the image onto the top of the disc. So, in conclusion it is a much better writer than it is a reader. So this can be considered useful as a truly portable drive, more so than the larger external drives you can buy. As you know, net-books dont' come with optical drives so this gizno suited my perfectly.
